Small steps

Yesterday on the Today show, they talked about resolutions and taking the tiniest of steps to achieve them. A few examples they gave were instead of saying you wanted to lose 10lbs or go to the gym 3x a week in the new year-which are so easily broken promises within a few weeks-to instead make the tiniest step you can think of toward that goal. So instead what I mentioned above as your resolution, how about doing push-ups (or sit-ups) for one minute a day for 31 days. The piece on the Today show said that a woman actually did this and lost 7lbs, just by doing push-ups for one minute a day! Doing it for one minute encouraged her to eat a bit healthier, walk a bit more, maybe even exercise. Those things were results of doing the push ups, which she committed to doing, not at all new resolutions. So my question to you is, what are your resolutions this year? And instead of making huge ones, what is the one tiny step you can make toward making that happen?

Here are a few of mine:

-To be closer to my husband in all aspects of our relationship
-To spend deeper, more meaningful time reading the Bible, praying, and developing a relationship with God
-To continue to change our eating habits, getting rid of, or lessening, our times of "falling off the wagon" and eating poorly, and increasing those times when we eat (what I like to call) "uber healthy"
-To not spend as much time on the computer
-To keep up with keeping my house neat and clean on a regular basis-so all I have to do is maintenence

I haven't figured out yet what those tiny steps are but I will be thinking on it for the rest of 2008.

Tag! What are your resolutions? What are your tiny steps?
