Snow day!

I am the biggest baby you will ever find about snow and driving in it. I absolutely refuse to drive in snow. When I was single and didn't have the option on whether or not to drive in it, I was the driver who drove 10 miles or under as soon as the first flake hit. I am terrified of snow. Not only do I hate the feeling of not being in control, I am actually a really terrible snow driver. When things get slippery I hit my brakes, run into curbs and out into intersections. Shiver. I hate driving in snow.

I have been known to cancel work because of snow. I just refuse to drive in it. I cancel going to friend's houses, going out. I hate driving in snow.

This year, it is so nice that I don't have to go to work. Last year I only worked 2 days a week but it seemed that every time it snowed it fell on one of my two work days. I think everyone at my office, especially my supervisor, was getting tired of me calling in and canceling work (having to reschedule everything later in the week) every time it snowed. This year, it is a wonderful feeling knowing that I don't have to go to work. I don't have to be accountable to anyone, and Anne and Winnie don't care if we don't go out because it's snowing. Granted, I've had to cancel a few playdates, and that was annoying, but not nearly as bad as canceling work and the pain of rescheduling everything.

We didn't have any plans today anyway, so it is nice that I don't have to leave the house if I don't want to. It's also nice we live in far south Chicagoland because this season it seems the worst of the snow is north of us and we get the leftovers. Even though the weather was calling for snow all day today, right now it's not snowing. I'm hoping if it stays not snowing, maybe Anne and I can venture to a few stores to try and get the things our house needs. We'll see. And if it starts snowing again, no one cares if I stay home...
