Today was my midwife appointment. Long story short-all is well! Phew! Short story long-the heart rate was at 148 and to my incredible surprise, my uterus is about halfway up my belly! I had no idea! Everything looks good. Pending talking it over with John, I think we are going to go for the ultrasound. I think I would just feel better seeing my baby on the screen and getting the complete thumbs up that everything is fine and there are no twins! If we get the ultrasound, that means that next appointment-the first week in October, we'll have an ultrasound. We are still going to forgo knowing the sex though until birth. Keep your fingers crossed that at our ultrasound our little one isn't sitting on the camera or the technician isn't so excited that he accidentally spills the beans.
Now, after today's appointment, I can breathe an almost complete sigh of relief. I'm now 14 weeks and in the second trimester so miscarriage is almost completely out of the question. I just need to make it a minimum of 10 weeks (obviously preferably 23+ more) for our baby to have a chance at survival Heaven forbid he/she is born early. Now hopefully I can coast through and enjoy the second trimester glow.

Just to clear it up-my utuerus is a little less than halfway between my pubic bone and belly button. It measures 10.5 cm (I'm 14 weeks). W/in the next 6 weeks, when I get to 20, my uterus will start to coorespond to the number of weeks. So, I'm pretty much right on target, not large or small. :) no big babies or twins for me (I hope!)
Glad to hear that all is going well!
