As you can tell by the post below we had a really really really long day! It takes us about an hour 15 to drive to the midwife's house. Then our appointment was an hour and a half! I'm all for lots of individual attention and will appreciate it a lot when I'm farther along with more questions but I was so done after a while! The good news is we did hear the heartbeat and it sounded good. The midwife did a pelvic exam and said my uterus was a good size. As with Anne I'm continually amazed that I have a human being growing inside of me. So I asked her if she could tell that my uterus had changed. She was very enthusiastic in her yes! So everything seems to be well. After the appointment we had to go to the hospital in Peru to get my blood work done. Since Bernice works out of her home, she doesn't like to do blood work there as the insurance frowns upon it and gives them a hard time to reimburse. Even though we had to drive to the hospital, it was really quick. An extra half hour. But I tell you, having to do that will make me think 3x about any blood test before I get it! Sorry blood glucose test, you are already out! I didn't want to get you with Anne and with the extra "incentive" this time around, I'll be passing you up. I will get the triple screen though, I think I'll have to do that next appointment.
All in all it was a good day. Even though it was long and tiring John and I are so willing to pay the price to get the birth we want. We are really grateful that we get to do a home birth again. (As long as things continue to go well.)
