Birthday Cake

This year I wrestled with if I should make Anne a cake or buy her one. The pros of buying her one are that it would be decorated a lot nicer than I could do it and it would taste better. The pros of making one is that it's homemade and has that special touch. In the end I decided to make her a cake. I made it and decorated it today during her nap so that if it turned out awful at least we could run to Jewel tomorrow and grab a new cake. I think it turned out very well. Granted there are a TON of flaws, but for the first time I've ever really decorated a cake, it turned out pretty good. The only thing I'm a bit nervous about is that I put strawberry jam in between the layers and I'm hoping that it won't leak through and make the cake all soggy. I think that it being in the fridge the rest of the day and night will prevent that though...I hope...
