Update on Winnie

I had quite a few people asking me how it's been going with Winnie. So far it's going great. Yesterday John looked at me and asked "Can I ask you....Do you regret it?" and I said "Nope". He completely agreed. Winnie's been really great. She is definitely high energy, most almost all the time, she's outside and completely manageable with her energy. She doesn't really chew at all and is really good about taking something chew-approved when she's chewing on something she's not supposed to. When she's inside and gets too rowdy, we just put her in her crate. She's really great about her crate as well. She doesn't whine or whimper or anything. She usually just goes right to sleep in her crate-even in the middle of the day. John and I are really enjoying spending time outside playing with her too. The other day we discovered if we call her from across the yard, she comes running towards us with all her might. It is so cute to see her running with all the joy and love a dog can muster up, and not being able to wait til she's near us.

Anne and Winnie are getting along better too. For the first few days Winnie would jump on Anne every chance she could. Thus Anne would cry and scream when Winnie would come near her. As much as I told Winnie no and pushed her away, she would just keep doing it and I have to physically separate them to assure that Winnie wouldn't jump on Anne. Early last week after Winnie had jumped on Anne after the 100th time, I just smacked her butt. I know that a lot of people may get angry that I hit my dog, but my daughter's safety comes first and I can't wait until Winnie is one or 2 years old (or even 4 months old) to understand that she can't jump on a baby. Winnie jumped on her once or twice after that and I smacked her butt each time, telling her sternly "No!". I'm happy to say that since that, Winnie has been almost an angel around Anne. Her first inclinking is not to jump on Anne. She actually hardly jumps up on her at all. If she does, she gets a whack. (I've only had to whack her 2 or 3 more times in a week.) She does lick and nip at Anne but since Winnie's nips don't hurt at all, Anne doesn't mind. And today Anne was actually seeking out Winnie, trying to play with her and laughing when Winnie would be near her.

So like I said, so far it's been great. (Herb you may not get to say it...)

Thanks for all the inquiries!

So happy together!
