9 Month Update on Anne

We went to the Dr. yesterday for Anne's 9 month check up. She weighs 15 lbs 8 oz and measures 26.75 inches. Babies are supposed to triple thier birth weight and grow 10 inches in the first year. Anne will most likely surpass both those goals. She only has 8 oz more to go to triple her weight and 1.25 inches to go to grow 10 inches. She has 3 months left til her first birthday. So even though she's still very small, she's growing very quickly!

Here is what Anne is up to these days:
She can crawl/scoot around whenver she wants. She is getting much quicker and much more determined to get things. The past few weeks we have been working on getting to a sitting and pulling to a stand and yesterday for the first time Anne did both! It was pretty cool! I went to get her from her nap and she was sitting in her crib! Then a few minutes later I got to see her do it herself. A few hours later she was sitting near the couch and saw a toy on it, and like she had been doing it forever, she pulled herself to a stand!
Anne is getting better at her pincher grasp and can feed herself skillfully. She can eat pretty much any table food that is remotely soft or has the abilty to get soft, and in addition to any and all pureed fruits and veggies, she loves eggs, yogurt, cheese, turkey lunchmeat, crackers, cheerios, many other things.
She is starting to babble more. She says a wide variety of sounds but still doesn't have "conversations" with us or her toys. The other day, we were laying in bed together and John walked over to say hi to her. Anne turned her head, reached for John's hand and said "Dada". John is convinced it was on purpose, I still think it was a pretty cool coincidence.
Her favorite toys lately are the shape sorter-with the lid off-and a toy Auntie Shellie gave Anne for Christmas. A puzzle that makes music and sounds. She loves to hit the gingerbreadman to make him sing, and she'll bounce up and down when he does!
Anne is a great baby and we can't believe how far she has come in 9 short months. It amazes both of us that in less than 3 months we'll be singing happy birthday to her.
