John and I were victims of a crime last night. Very sad...We went to the White Sox game downtown. The entrance to the parking lot is located on the corner of Stewart and Pershing. We were waved into the lot by 2 uniformed employees of the White Sox. As soon as we pulled onto that street and passed the flaggers, a man came up to our car and asked if we were here for the cash parking to the game. We said yes, and assumed he was also a worker of the White Sox since he was right by the flaggers and at the entrance to the lot. He told us the fee to park was $20. As I was getting the money out of the wallet he said, "Hurry, hurry, hurry!" because there were other cars lining up behind us. John too, feeling the stress from the man and the other cars lining up behind him said, "Hurry babe!". So I quickly handed the 20 to John who then handed it to the man. The man pointed ahead and said we could park. As we pulled forward I said, "Why do I have a feeling we just got scammed?" Not 100 yards up ahead and around a corner were more UNIFORMED White Sox employees. They stopped our car and said, "You here for cash parking? It's $18." We explained that we had already paid but the attendant said that it was a scammer and they do it all the time. She apologized for us losing our money but said she couldn't do anything about it. We had to pay her $18 to get in the lot...we got a recipet...a sign that the person taking your money is legit. So, before we even set foot into US Cellular Field, the night already cost us 100 bucks! (31 per ticket, 20 paid to the scammer, and 18 to the attendant!). We did call 9-1-1 (on the advice of the attendant) but never recieved a follow up call as to whether or not the man was arrested. And John has written an email to the Sox, but we are doubtful we can get the money back...have a nice life, little twenty...I hope that man's pockets are clean and dry and a nice place to live. I know our wallet was a nice place to live...Sorry you couldn't live there longer.
