Of course, like most things, it wasn't nearly as bad as I imagined it would be. Anne's now slept in her room 3x since putting the baby proof knob on and has done perfectly fine. She hasn't even really made an issue out of it. A few times she's knocked on the door, which we've ignored, and the first time she slept in there, true to form, she got up and attempted to open the door, found she couldn't and went back to bed. Something about my little girl-she apparently really likes boundaries and confinement. Even as a 6 week old-when we finally moved her out of our bed and into hers, she slept much better. So I breathe a sigh of relief that I don't have to sit outside her door, bawling Mad About You style as she begs to get out (do you remember that episode? Or even that show?).
Something cute about the childproof knob, we were talking to her about it-and Anne is really turning into a 3 year old and 3 is the new 2 (as in terrible) in our house so she's really starting to get (for lack of a better word) an attitude. And we were reminding her that when she went down for naps she wouldn't be able to get out. We asked her why and she looked over at me, gave me a dirty look and in a tone that was way too close to teenager for comfort said "Because you put that thing on my door!" Too cute!
