Updates

So going vegetarian sort of fell by the wayside when I hit 6 weeks or so. So far this pregnancy is very different from Anne. With Anne I had no morning sickness at all and only for 2 or 3 weeks did I lose my appetite. Actually, I lost it completely, so much so that I lost 2 lbs those 2 weeks. With this baby I have had morning sickness probably from 6 weeks on. It lasts pretty much all day but fortunately it is very mild. I've only thrown up a few times. This baby too, I have to eat every few hours or I start to either feel sick (nauseous) or like I'm going to pass out. With Anne, when I lost my appetite, all I could eat was junk food and fast food. That was all that appealed to me those 2 weeks. Obviously it didn't appeal to me that much since I still lose weight. With this baby it hasn't been quite like that. For a while I had to plan each meal at dinner time. There were days when I would plan to make meal A the next day and by the next day meal A sounded so disgusting to me I wanted to throw up just thinking about it. So we have been winging it for the past few weeks. That means that I've had meat lasagna, chicken, hamburgers, stuff like that. Yet, both John and I still very much want to go semi-vegetarian.

This week things are starting to turn around. (Side note, I read that at 1o weeks the placenta starts to take over some of the baby care that previously your hormones had been doing 100%. By the second trimester the placenta is doing it all which is why most women feel better starting in the second trimester.) Anyway, we've been able to do a bit more with the uber healthy vegetarian stuff. Tonight we had a super delicious Mexican tortilla that I'll post the recipe for in the next post. I also have a summer ratatouille and vegetarian enchiladas planned for this week. Waiting in the wings is a pasta primavera and pesto tomato pizza. It's good timing that I'm starting to feel better as our zucchini and tomatoes are starting to ripen in our garden. (All the above recipes have either zucchini or tomatoes as the main ingredients.) Yay for week 10 on Wednesday and feeling better!

Yep, that 1st trimester drain is so awful! I remember in those first few months getting up and being so tired within an hour that I was ready to got to sleep for the night! I hope you're over that part and the nasuea soon!
