No Strings Attached

The past 6 months or so, John and I have really started to see Plainfield as home. We are really starting to find all of our little nooks and crannies. From our good friends down the streets who have been like family to us, to the dog park Winnie likes to go to, to the forest preserve John and I practically lived in over the summer while we tried to outrun the heat. One of the places we have discovered is an amazing little wine shop in the heart of downtown Plainfield. It's called Wine and Cheese by TCC (TCC stands for "Two Clueless Chicks" which stands for the two ladies who opened the store).

John and I love this store. They have some really cool amenities that we haven't found in any other wine shop. First of all, they offer some pretty amazing "of the month clubs". There is a beer of the month club, where you get a 6 pack of 2 beers (3 of each). These beers are unusual beers that you wouldn't find just anywhere. These beers are usually shipped into the store specifically for the beer club. There's a wine club, where you get 2 wines and there is a cheese club where, get this, you get 2 unbelievably amazing cheeses a month. I think these clubs are so cool and John and I are currently participating in the beer club. We love trying 2 new beers each month, getting to compare and contrast them, read about the breweries that made them, and try to pair them with the appropriate food.

In addition to these amazing clubs, the store offers free wine tasting 2x a week. So not only are you getting the wine tasting for free, the owners are very cool about giving you second tastes of whatever wine you want. Several times we've had second and third tastes of something to be sure we wanted to buy it.

One of the other interesting things about the store is their cheese shop. If I had to choose between their cheeses and John, I'd probably be sleeping with a wheel of Gouda next to me every night! Again, the management is so cool about letting you try the cheeses. We've probably tasted $5 worth of cheese on several different occasions. These cheeses are not your typical grocery store variety. If you think you like cheese, you haven't tried these cheeses. They blow you out of the water, make you take a deep breath in and just say "Wow!"

I think my favorite thing about this shop is that they are friendly and remember you. Most of the time when I walk in, whoever is working there says "Hi" with a friendly smile and runs back to get my beer of the month because she remembers why I'm coming in. This is so refreshing after disappointing experiences such as going to the vet every 2 weeks for the past 9 months and they still don't remember Winnie's name! The workers are also very friendly every time we go in.

Finally, whenever I leave that store, even if I was just in and out to get my beer, I feel more cultured and intelligent for having been in it. It's weird to feel that way, but somehow that's how I feel every time I leave the store.

So, if you're in the mood for a great experience of wine tasting and cheese, and you're willing to take a scenic drive to Plainfield, check out Wine and Cheese by TCC!

**I was not paid anything for these words. I'm just so impressed with the store, I wanted to give credit where credit was due.

That is such a nice feeling when the town you live in really "feels" right.

Too bad about your vet. Our vet knows us really well, we really like him, all the receptionists know us too. They're all really friendly to us and they all always know who we are (of course with so many dogs and cats over almost 6 years...)
