We went to our second Kidzfest this weekend. Kidzfest is a local summer fest that takes place in downtown Joliet. It is put on by a local University and various vendors and organizations participate in setting up booths and activities for kids to do. It's really well organized and thought out and I can't wait until Anne can participate fully. They had real army tanks that kids could climb in. They had semi trucks, cranes, and other construction equipment that kids could climb in and honk the horns. The fire department set up a whole scenario where the kids could go in the fire truck, run back and forth with hoses and finally use a real fire hose to put out a "fire". There were also bubbles, sandboxes, animals, petting zoo, pony rides, jumper and races. I thought it would be fun to post some pictures comparing last year's Kidzfest with this year's.
THEN

NOWI made Anne a pretty crown. Now Princess Octopus Anne (that's another blog) can have a crown to wear.

She hated the pony ride, but...
LOVED the baby duckies
This guy was a little scary. In fact, when I tried to help her touch it, she cried in fear.
Similar snake picture as last year. This year, Anne was able to look at it and touch it in interest.
Wow, what a difference a year makes! Next year, Anne will probably take a lot more active role in all the activities. I'm excited!
