Time to expand our family???

I bet that title got you going! NO John and I are NOT thinking of adding another baby to our family...that is hopefully a long time off. We are, however, thinking of adopting a dog. We have thought about this for a long time. Actually, it has been something we have thought about since before we were married. The ideal dog for us is a yellow lab, female, and approximately 2-4 years old. We have talked to a lab rescue, but they do not adopt to families with children under the age of three. It will be a very long time before we don't have children under the age of three. So, our other option is looking for a lab in a shelter. Mostly what I have found are lab mixes and generally they are about a year old. Not quite our "dream dog" but pretty near close. So, on saturday our family will take a little trip down to Chicago and visit a shelter. There is a sweet looking lab mix, yellow, female and 9 months old that we are going to look at. I am excited and nervous and hesitant. I do want a dog, but we wonder if the time is right for us. Then on the other hand, we wonder will the time ever be "right" and "perfect"? So, we'll just see what happens. Maybe Holly will grab out hearts and we'll take her home that day (if they let us). But maybe she won't and we'll pass and continue to think more about getting a dog.
