Well, Anne officially turns six months old tomorrow, so here is an update on what she's up to these days. Anne is almost 12 lbs, not quite there. And measures 24.5". She's definately a peanut, but is filling out her clothes none the less. She fits into most 0-3 month sized clothes and is actually starting to fill out her 3-6 month sized ones as well. Anne can sit up when she is propped by her arms and can sometimes sustain several seconds of sitting straight backed sitting before toppling over. She still can't roll over to her tummy, but I think it's a more of a matter of not wanting to do it or not knowing how to do it vs. not physically being able to do it. She certainly has the ability, as she can get her legs completely over and her chest almost completely over, she just doesn't go through with the flipping part. While on her tummy, she kicks her feet and can lift her bottom and her tummy completely off the ground. Anne also loves to stand when you hold onto her hands. This is one of her favorite things to do. As far as her fine motor goes, she grabs accurately at toys all the time, putting every single thing in her mouth first and foremost. She also can "rake" a small object by grabbing it with all her fingers at once. Anne loves to be sung to, with one of her favorite songs being "Old McDonald had a farm..." if she is fussy, one line of that song and she immedately quiets down and listens. She also adores her exersaucer, mainly because it involves one of her favorite things, standing!
Anne has recently started solid foods and has tried: sweet potatoes, bananas, green beans and pears. She loves the pears the best so far, actively opening her mouth for them. She is still also nursing, and we both love the morning feed the best. We cuddle up in bed together and when she's all done we play a bit, me pretending to bite her hands and her touching my face and looking all around. We have been fortunate enough to not have to supplement with formula, though it is very hard to keep up with the pumping so I have enough to feed her while at work 2 days a week.
Anne is still a really easy and enjoyable baby. She entertains herself for long stretches, rarely cries and fusses and when she does is easily consoled. We count ourselves quite lucky.
So, that's my six month old baby in a nutshell! I wonder what she'll be doing a month from now, three months from now, six months from now...one can only wait, watch and wonder...
