Babies are people too!

I am going to use this space now to vent. Anne is a smaller baby. She weighs only 11 pounds and is 24 inches long. Her weight is about the 10th percentile or less for her age and her length is about the 25th. She still wears size 0-3 month clothes and just this month has stopped being able to fit into newborn size clothes. With the weather changing, I decided she needed some warmer clothes, mainly long sleeved shirts. I had my heart set on turtle necks (how cute paired with a baby jean, huh??) but really any long sleeved onesie, or even just a shirt, would do. I went to about 7 or 8 stores and you know what I found? A whole lot of nothing! That's right...Target, Wal-Mart, Khols, Carters, Children's place, the baby section in Gap, Little-Me, even Oskosh, all of them a big fat zilch! Here is what you find when you walk into one of the many stores I just mentioned: You look around for the sign that points to baby. Excitedly you go over to that spot. You start looking through the dozen or so racks of "baby" clothes only to discover that "infant" or "baby" clothes really means 12 month and up. Or if you are really lucky, size 6 month and up (remember, Anne wears a size 0-3 month). So, frustratedly you look through all the racks to discover, there is a section that is truly baby. It is called "newborn". (My daughter is not a newborn.) Newborn means sizes 0 to 9 months, or perhaps depending on the store, size 0-12 months. However, the problem is that the dedicate one, two, or if you are truly lucky...three whole racks to this ridiculusly named "newborn" section. In this section you will find a lot of rompers, sleepers and short sleeved onesies. There are perhaps a few pants (literally maybe 4 to choose from) and some, truth be told, cute outfits. And, there might even be one or two (this is the honest truth, no exaggeration here) choices for long sleeved shirts. This is just riduculous! I can't believe this is allowed to happen! Babies are people too and if Anne could talk she would say "Hey, cut me some slack here! I could use a long sleeved shirt!" So, after venturing out to the outlet mall in hopes of finding some clothes for her, and visiting 5 shops, I came away with excatly 4 long sleeved shirts for her. And I searched every store top to bottom. Unbelievable!
